Something To Think About

If we look at society it is usually the rich that do not believe in the Lord and deny Him as God. The question is why?

It is an interesting that the only thing in scriptures compared to the Lord is Money. You cannot serve God and Mammon. Money tends to take the place of the Lord in all areas if a person allows it to do so.

Money becomes our safety, our acceptance, our prestige, our security for the future, our power, and our identity. Oh yes he is a very successful doctor, or lawyer, or businessman is simply saying he makes a lot of money. It is sad, but money in these cases replaces the need for the Lord. I know many doctors, lawyers, and businessmen that have made this commitment to the Lord and use much of their wealth toward His work. However the ratio is tilted toward those that do not.

Of course the scriptures say in James that the rich are the ones that oppress the poor including the believers and are the ones that drag us into the courts. Mainly so they can get more money or in many cases revenge for something that didn't go their way.

Many people show favoritism to the rich and powerful thinking they are some special person because of their "Worldly Success". But as we know, the really successful person is the one who's God is the Lord Jesus and gives their life to serve and please Him. Those are the people we should really honor and most of the time they do not want the honor.

Of this one thing I am sure, life speeds by at an unbelievable rate and in the end money loses its' importance except for its' ability to pay for our casket.

The eternal question is: Have I loved and helped others and have I forgiven those that have hurt, used, and offended me during my time here on earth and received forgiveness from others that I hurt, used, and offended. In fact this may be the only question our Lord may ask us.

Just something to think about.
